Training & Classes

Trained by Run On!
I appreciated being able to draw on the extensive experience and knowledge of the coaches at Run On. They knew how to motivate us and they made sure no one felt excluded. Their participation in our graduation 5k goes a long way in settling those pre-race jitters for us first-timers. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thanks!

Former 101/201/Speed Class Members Say . . .

The following comments were given on the end-of-class evaluation form by participants in the Running 101, Running 201, and Speed Classes when we asked them what they liked best about their class.
  • That it slowed me down to ultimately give me better results. I was running too fast before, and got too tired and quit.
  • I like the drills...I would never run hills, tempo, etc on my own.  Also, like discussions about form
  • Watching my speed increase. Running in the rain on Monday. I was a 5 year old all over again.
  • Getting myself into a scheduled routine of exercising, meeting new friends, running in the 5K on St. Patrick's Day. My coach encouraged me to run so I went for it. It was a challenge, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The coaches were very helpful in seeing that all the girls were on task, but also having fun doing it.
  • Feeling better, sleeping better, and met some really nice people.
  • The small groups and personal attention from the coach. Seeing myself make progress each class
  • The camaraderie of the group made it more fun that I thought possible. The coach made a big difference in what I was able to accomplish.
  • Jean and Lisa are both wonderful coaches. I started out as just a walker 12 weeks ago and now I can run a mile without stopping to walk. With their motivation and guidence I have reached my short term goal.
  • Coaches were great and challenged me, but at my level.
  • The flexibility to move up or back, without any difficulty. Even if you are struggling in the beginning, the coach always gives encouragement, which makes me keep pushing.
  • The emphasis on making it a fun experience.
  • Coaches were very good at assisting each runner based on their level. Faster/more experienced runners weren't made to slow down, and slower/new runners weren't pushed beyond their limits.
  • Each week I was pushed a little farther and it gave me a since of accomplishment. My group was fun and talkative which made the time go by faster. It was a great class!
  • Information presented to us by our coaches and the one on one time they gave us when needed to answer questions
  • Instruction and encouragement from the coaches. Bernie is a great motivator that provides practical tips and corrective instruction on proper running technique. She is cognizant of individual needs -- not just a standard script for all runners.
  • It educated me on safe and effective running and it has helped me to love running!
