Run On! offers a wide array of training programs dependent upon your ability and your goal(s). Please check out our Training Class section of the website for more information.

Yes!! Run On! invites you to our free weekly social runs. Join local runners on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM at each of our stores. The groups run/walk between 2-8 miles at paces from 7-15 minutes. All skill levels are welcome, and each run is monitored by our staff and coaches. Everyone is welcome. See you on Wednesday!

Product Questions

Natural fibers can absorb 8 times their weight in moisture. Placing that moisture/perspiration against your skin can cause blistering, chaffing and all sorts of ailments that will make your workout less enjoyable for you and those around you. This includes all your workout apparel and accessories, especially SOCKS!

If it has been more than a year since you purchased your last bra, you should think about replacing it.

Replacing your shoes depends upon your activity, mileage and usage. A good rule of thumb to follow is your shoes will last between 300 to 500 miles. You should replace your shoes, no matter what, if you've had them for 6 months. Midsole materials will breakdown with age alone.

Store Questions

Running shoes are just sized differently than other shoes, even other athletic shoes. You also need about a thumb’s width of room between your longest toe and the front of the running shoe for the footwear to function properly. Expect your running or walking shoes to be from 1/2 to 2 sizes larger than your other shoes. Sizing can also vary from brand to brand, as well as style to style within the same brand.

That depends on the condition of you feet.  We typically recommend over the counter orthotics when we see the following:

  • Fat pad shift
  • The need for minor stability correction
  • Pain associated with plantar fasciitis
  • Fine tuning fit of your footwear

Bring in your current running or walking shoes. If you wear orthotics or another type of insert, bring those too.

There is NO fee and NO appointments are necessary at Run On!. All of our staff are thoroughly trained in our fitting process. Our process normally takes 10 to 20 minutes to help you find the right shoe fit.

  • Step 1:
    Our store is staffed by runners that are committed to your fitness success. We will ask you about your current activities; such as how often you run or walk, and what your fitness goals are.
  • Step 2:
    Next, we will watch you walk! That's right, we ask you to take off your shoes so that we can look at your foot as you walk. This helps us determine your foot type-do you pronate or have high arches? We'll help you find out!
  • Step 3:
    Based on our findings, we will bring out shoes that would work for your foot type. We watch you walk or run around a bit, and answer any questions you have.
  • Step 4:
    After you've picked out the best shoe for you, we will gladly answer any technical questions you might have about shoes, accessories, and apparel.

No. Because our employees are highly trained, we are able to provide a quality fitting for your shoes, inserts, bras, clothes and other products.  Exceptional service is our focus and to continue to provide you with the best, we choose to sell our products at the standard competitive price for the industry.

  • We will provide guidance for proper sizing and product category based on our analysis of your needs. The customer ultimately assumes responsibility for their selection.
  • All merchandise must be returned in sellable condition along with manufacturer’s tags and packaging.

Training and Classes

Sorry half and full classes only meet during early morning hours.

The website is the best place to view upcoming Run On classes.  You'll find links to detailed information on the right hand column of the Find Your Pace page.

One of the most attractive aspects of running is that it does not require any special equipment.    We do however suggest that you are fitted for running shoes at a running specialty store.  The correct shoes will enhance your natural stride and will help prevent injuries.  During one of our first classes, we will help you understand the different categories of shoes and why it's important that you wear the one that is right for you.

We do not have a cut off point for taking students. 

You can register at any Run On! store  or on-line.  There is a small service fee if you register on-line.

Yes, unless it is flooding rain that makes our running routes unsafe. Also, we do not run when there is lightning in the area, or ice on the ground. You will be notified by email from the Run On Training Coordinator and/or your coach in cases of cancellation.

Yes, we have one week in between new classes that can be used to make up a class cancelled by weather. Generally we limit makeups to one class unless unusual circumstances prompt the cancellation of multiple classes, in which we will use the Tuesday and Thursday in between new class start dates to make up 2 classes.

Training that Fits You

Fit for Distance 15K, Full Marathon and Half Marathon Training
Training to help you go the distance, whether it's a 15K, half or full marathon. Our progressive training schedules, pace-based groups and experienced coaches help you achieve your goal.  We also have a Advanced Marathon class that will push your endurance to new levels.
- Spring Marathon/Half classes begin in December in order to get you ready for the RNR Dallas Half, Big D, Boston, Flying Pig, Oklahoma City, Colorado, and all other late Spring Full and Half marathons. 
- 15K Classes
begin in May, training you to run the 15K at the Too Hot to Handle and preparing you to continue to into the Dallas Marathon/Half Class beginning in July.
- Early Fall Marathon Classes
begin in May to prepare you to run Chicago, Marine Corps, New York City, and other early fall marathon. 
- Dallas Marathon/Half Classes begin in July, getting you ready to run Dallas, DRC Half, Las Vegas, San Antonio, Memphis and other late fall marathons & halfs
 
Advanced Full Marathon and Advanced Half Marathon
This class is for you if you are ready to take your Full or Half Marathon training to the next level!  You must meet strict minimum requirements to enroll in this class:

  • Must have a heart rate monitor
  • You must have run a 3:40 full or a 1:40 half in the last 6 months
  • You must have a current average mileage base of 30 miles per week

This class is geared towards the Boston Marathon and other late Spring Full/Half Marathons. 
 
Advanced Speed Development
This class is designed to be a off season training program that will improve speed and turnover for distance runners.  The target runner is someone who continuously trains for distance runs, and wants to break that cycle up.
The training includes running on a variety of surfaces (road, track & grass) as well as different terrains. It will include movement preparation exercises & basic core strengthening.  There are strict minimum requirements to enter this class:

  • You must have a heart rate monitor
  • You must have run an average of at least 20 miles per week the 4 weeks before class starts
  • You must be able to run below a 30 minute 5K
  • You must have a Yoga Mat and towel
  • You must have a water bottle and a safety light

Trail Classes

Intro to Trails Class
Are you ready to really break up your street running routine?  We have the class for you! If you're new to trail running, this is the place to start.

Trail to Grasslands  & Trail to Rough Creek Classes
If you're ready to up your distance on the trail, these classes are for you. Come train with our expert coaches for the Grasslands Trail Run in March (class begins in December)  or for the Rough Creek Trail Run in September (class begins in June)  Trail running is a beautiful, enjoyable, and beneficial sport and training for a big race is motivating.  Primary distance for these races is the Half Marathon race, however, depending on sign ups the Full Marathon may be offered also.

Specialty Classes

Good Form Running
Runners strive to run faster, more efficiently, and injury free. This four-week class focuses on proper mechanics and aims to master good running form.

You will receive a schedule the first night of class with a detailed plan for 6 weeks.  If you have to miss a class you will want to let your coach know, but you will have the schedule of what to do.  If you are in the speed class you will need to let your coach know you will be missing so that they can describe the workout for you.

Is this ok?  Yes, the first night of class is a timing workout used to place you in the proper pace group.  If you know you will miss the first night, then you will need to supply us with a 1 mile time or a recent race time.  You can enroll in the class up until the 2nd Thursday of each class.

Yes. You must be 18 years of age to be in a 15K, half marathon, or full marathon class.

At the first class session, we will do a time trial to put everyone into the correct training pace group. Pace groups generally are divided into 30 second intervals (i.e. 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:00 and run/walk).

For the 15K and half marathon classes, you must be able to run or run/walk a 5K running for 4 minutes and walking for one minute.  You should have a average weekly mileage base of 10-15 miles.  
For the marathon classes, it is required that you have a current long run of 8 miles. We suggest that you have been running for at least 6 months to one year, and have a weekly mileage base of 20-25 miles.

What is the class fee? What is included in that fee?

Marathon and half classes are 18-24 weeks long and cost $225-250.00 The 301 class is 7 weeks and the cost is $110.00. Some of the benefits of training with Run On! include:

Marathon, half and 15K classes meet on Sunday mornings at the Dallas store. Tuesday and Thursday runs are 5:15 a.m. at Run On! Dallas, Richardson Run On!, Coppell Run On!, and Allen High School Track.
